US 80
Improvements
Dallas County, Texas
This project consists of improvements of US 80 from IH 30 to east of Gus Thomasson/Gross Road in Dallas, County. AGG completed an geotechnical investigative report for Segment 5 only. The additional segments 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 (along with segment 5) will reconstruct and widen US 80 from Interstate Highway 30 (IH 30) in Dallas County to Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 460 in Kaufman County within the cities of Dallas, Mesquite, Forney and the Town of Sunnyvale.
The improvements plan to add an additional main lanes in each direction, for a total of six to eight main lanes; frontage road reconstruction with two to three travel lanes in each direction. In addition, continuous one-way frontage roads with two travel lanes in each direction, and reconstruction of ramps and bridge structures. The proposed frontage road improvements will provide a 14-foot wide shared-use outside lane to accommodate vehicles and bicycles in each direction. A six-foot wide sidewalk is also proposed along the frontage roads and at cross streets where reconstruction is proposed.
AGG’s geotechnical field investigation consisted of 18 bridge borings, eight noise wall borings, four sign borings, 62 retaining wall borings along the alignment, with 13 of the bridge borings also being used for retaining wall design for a total of 75 retaining wall borings.
